Landscape and Scenery in Sri Lankacall-me-now

Sri Lanka  has some of the most beautiful and diverse scenery in the world with:

•    Idyllic sandy beaches with swaying palms fringed with azure seas
•    Lagoons and mangroves
•    Virgin rainforests such as Sinharaja Rainforest - this has recently been named as the first Travel and Tourism Earth Lung. Due to its high bio-diversity and ecological importance, it has been declared as a National Heritage Wilderness Area and it is the only natural World Heritage Site (declared by UNESCO) in the country. Sinharaja is one of the few virgin forests left in the world and covers an area of approx. 11,000 hectares. This lowland forest is considered to be one of the best bird sites in Sri Lanka with 22 out of Sri Lanka's 26 endemic birds and more than 60% of the trees are endemic and many of them are considered rare.•
•    National Parks such as Yala and Ude Walawe. Herds of wild elephant can be found there with Yala also being the home to buffalo, crocodile, deer and leopard. Skilled guides are used to find the animals. Birdwatching is also very good at all the parks
•    Cool, lush mountains covered in beautifully manicured tea plantations which follow the contours of the land so it appears as though it is a total green carpet. The tea pickers are often dressed in brightly coloured clothes so you can clearly see them moving up and down the bushes only collecting two leaves and a bud from each plant. Tea was first introduced to Sri Lanka by the British in 1867 after the extensive coffee plantations were destroyed by disease. A visit to a tea factory gives a real insight into the production process which is largely unchanged for the last 100 years – an experience that will make your appreciate your cuppa.
•    More than 103 rivers and 130 waterfalls (for its size, more waterfalls than any other country in the world)
•    Spectacular views
