Day 9

We drive to Ella today. On the way we take a short walk up Small Adams Peak (about an hour and a half). Ella Gap has amazing view of the coastal plain nearly 1,000 meters below. Almost all of the southern part of the island can be seen on a clear day. If you are lucky, you would see the sea which is about 100 miles away. Overnight in Ella Gap.

Day 10

After breakfast, we drive to the Elephant Transit Camp run by the Born Free Foundation. There are over 35 little orphan elephants that will be fed with milk while you watch. Eventually, these elephants will be released into Uda Walawe National Park. We then take a jeep safari with open tops in the National Park to see over 50 elephants. Apart from elephants, you get to see crocodiles, water buffalo, deer, lizards and lots of birds. After the safari, we go to the hotel where you can lie by the pool in the late afternoon. Overnight at Embilipitiya *.

Day 11

Today we are heading towards the south west coast. On the way, we stop at the Dutch fort in Galle. The fort was originally built by the Portuguese in 1589 to house spices. You can walk around the fort within an hour and a half visiting the New Oriental Hotel, National Museum, the Dutch church, the clock tower, the lighthouse and some old colonial buildings. Then, we drive to a turtle hatchery where you get to see one, two and three day old turtles in different tanks. These turtles will be released in the sea at night. Overnight at the beach hotel in Bentota*.
