The Unique Travel Company (Sri Lanka) Limited is co-owned by Sue Gregory (a British national) based in the UK who runs the UK side of the company and Roshan Fernando (a Sri Lankan National) who is responsible for ensuring you get the best Sri Lankan experience possible. Together they help to make your holiday a truly personal one.
Roshan has been working as a national tourist guide lecturer in Sri Lanka for over a decade with a leading British travel company. He is indisputably one of the best guides in the country, and a really nice guy too! Roshan has also been involved in a number of amazing projects across Sri Lanka including the organisation of the building of the 3 Tsunami houses that Sue raised funds for, because we truly believe in putting back as much as we can into helping Sri Lanka and its people, we think of it as responsible tourism.
Sue has run her own successful business for many years. She discovered Sri Lanka a few years ago and totally fell in love with it and its people. Initially, she spent 4 months working on the island and every year she now goes back for another couple of months at a time so she now has an intimate knowledge of the country. Working with Roshan they have thoroughly researched and tasted all the hotels and activities on offer in Sri Lanka, so they can truly say they have been there and done it - not many tourist operators can boast the same!
Sue along with Roshan have become committed to helping the people of Sri Lanka too, so much so Sue raised money in the UK to build 3 Tsunami houses together with helping a variety of projects at different schools and also at Arunodaya Orphanage. She also regularly visits the island to teach for several weeks at a time. So she not only gets first hand knowledge of its people but also of the variety on offer to visitors who come to Sri Lanka.
Many people in Sri Lanka work in the tourism industry and because of the smaller number of tourists in the last few years, many people have been put out of work. As a Company we are therefore committed to providing cost effective holidays to encourage more visitors to Sri Lanka unlike the majority of tour operators who charge high costs which put tourists off.
