Below are a few of the excursions we can offer:

NORTH PART

  • Anuradhapurathis was the 1st capital city of Sri Lanka and dates from 3rd century BC – there are many fabulous buildings here (some when they were built, were only second in size to the Pyramids
  • Mihintale – this is only 30mins from Anuradhapura – this is said to be where Buddhism first started in Sri Lanka and is therefore an important pilgrimage site.
  • Wilpattu National Park – this is a very beautiful Park famous for its leopards and less busy than most so much more enjoyable for humans and animals alike!

SOUTH PART

  • Bike ride this uses the back roads through the villages and is a chance to see real Sri Lankan life
  • Dambulla Cave Temple – this is the largest painted cave temple in the world and dates from 1st century BC
  • Elephant ride beside the beautiful Habarana Lake
  • Hiriwadunna trek – bullock cart ride through the villages, crossing a lake on an oruwa and having lunch in the local village in a traditional mudhouse.
  • Minneriya National Park – particularly famous for the gatherings of elephants there
  • Polonnaruwa – this was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka and it dates from 10-12th century AD
  • Ritigala – a mountain with monastery stepped in mystery and legend where you can really get off the beaten track.
  • Rose Quartz Mountain – this is the largest in SE Asia and covers some 500acres.
  • Sigiriya – the iconic rock fortress dating from 5th century AD.
