This luxurious hotel in Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle was designed by Geoffrey Bawa and is built on minimalist lines. It is actually built into a rock so you enter from one side, go through a rock tunnel to come out either into the Dambulla Wing which has views over mountains, forest and Kandalama Lake, or into the Sigiriya Wing which also has views of Kandalama Lake but also has fantastic views of Sigiriya Rock and mountains. All of the hotel rooms are luxuriously equipped and are angled so that each view is unique.
